On the subject of automation? When you automate a backup? That does not mean have a night operator monitor the backup in real time right? You let it run, and if the backup fails, you re-run it.. That is automation right?

Listening to my iPhone on random and some Floyd comes up. Got me thinking… Now bare in mind I am going off the deep end here on a rant that includes world issues and my thoughts on such..
We are not talking. We should keep talking! My wife and I have the most wonderful and close relationship. It is hard work! We will both attest to this, but the work, WELL worth it. We have build trust through understanding and dialog. We can be open and honest.
The world today is faced with several issues but one is communication. We can communicate so fast that tyrannical and controlling regimes are facing information leakage.

With the dangers of the internet for kids it is hard to teach them Information Security principals. As a professional even I am challenged. I often wonder how difficult a time regular parents have.
The conversation yesterday started out with “Can’t I just make it simple and the same everywhere?”
This began a lecture that I am sure she switched off after about 30 seconds. Normally when doing InfoSec someone has to get burned before they take it seriously. I am torn between showing her how easy it is or just to keep forcing the issue. Of course, I cannot let her “get burned” as that can be dangerous.

I have noticed a significant increase in mobile computing. One thing that I would like to express an opinion on is “Smart Phones”. I look at these and wonder when Cell Phone Companies will start respecting them as Mobile Computers. With Kasperky starting with mobile securty http://www.kaspersky.com/kaspersky_mobile_security it is obvious now (it was always obvious to me) that Smart Phones are mobile computers. What gives Mobile Phone companies the right to reach down into your mobile computer? For that matter who are they to dictate what you can and cannot load (Apple pay attention here, and yes, I am a FanBoi)…

The beta version of Netatalk requires DB4 4.6 or higher. CentOS 5 is behind on that and you have to go with GA Netatalk.
